Teens & Hypnotic Techniques
At your wits end?
Gray hair?
Unable to achieve positive changes with your child or adolescence?
Is their behavior out of control?
Or perhaps your child is an over achiever and has not yet learned to de-stress?
Or maybe you remember last school year with all the fears and anxieties of test taking?
Well if you answered yes to any of these questions and you want a fast and powerful guaranteed healing modality then your child is a perfect candidate to be hypnotized! Yes, believe it or not, this healing modality that I have been doing for 20 plus years is finally mainstream!
Current studies show that children ages 7 to 12 are the most highly susceptible to hypnosis and following them are teenagers! As adults we tend to take a little more time and knowledge to be open to healing but that does not stop us from being just as successful as our children. Even more recently there are studies showing infants have made medical miracles happen with the use of hypnosis.
Phobic children, like phobic adults, make excellent candidates to be hypnotized. This is natural since the majority of phobics are highly suggestive by nature. I recently treated a 19-year-old male who was going away to college. He had a severe food aversion and with college on the horizon he needed to adapt to a new environment and not have this negative behavior any longer. Within 4 healing meetings he was over his food aversion and confident and ready to move on with his life. In actuality he was happier and more prepared to go off to college. Mom and Dad were even happier they saw an immediate change in their sons' demeanor and behaviors making them feel safe and secure that their son would excel in the "real" world.
Another recent case was of a child that was afraid of needles and after two sessions the fear was gone! He let go of his fears and had a lot more confidence to move forward in his life. And at age 8 this was a real plus because his confidence and new self esteem showed up in everything he did. Mom no longer had to go through screaming matches or emotional turmoil of taking her child to the doctors for his annual visit.
The positive side effects of hypnosis far outweigh the choice to "live" with the challenge. As adults our lives are filled with many daily problems and what a relief to know that there is help for our children and ourselves if we so choose. So much of "how" we treat and care and nurture our offspring has much to do with our own upbringing, joys and sadness of our own lives. When we transfer our "stuff" to our children we are disabling them to succeed and sadly they will eventually have to deal with their own "stuff." I have seen hypnosis create confidence and security in many children, adolescents and adults. This basic self esteem and trust of self allows the individual to flourish.
Our brains have a system known as R.A.S., that is the Recticular Activating System. This is the system that remembers and reacts to things that you may have learned when you were little. Such as, your small child is sitting on the porch and a spider climbs up her arm and she is cooing and awwing at the spider as it crawls up her small hand and then her arm. Mom comes racing to her rescue yelling and screaming to get the spider off of her and the child then believes that spiders are something to fear! AH HA! We have done it again! Another instance that comes to mind are all the parents that go to rescue their children after they have fallen and scraped their knees. Mom and dad are all upset and actually tell the child, to "stop crying," because it's just a little hurt, well, once we direct our children to turn off their emotions we then begin to build their beliefs, correct or incorrect. HMMM, food for thought.
I share this next story because of its poignancy in my own life. My daughter has had the advantage of being brought up by a very spiritual person and one who has learned, I repeat, learned to let her be her own person. Because of the hypnosis I have done with her over the years she has always remained confidant and secure. When she was 9 years old she came home from school to report to me that the kids at school said her hair was like a Brillo mop. Well, Barb does have very curly hair, similar to Nicole Kidman hair, and back then she wore it wild and free. I asked her what she had said to them and how it made her feel? She told me she simply said, "Thank you," smiled and went about her business. More importantly, she did not care about their comments. (see my article on It's All Green Hair). My belief is that underlying all of our childrens "challenges" is the lack of self confidence and positive belief process for who they want to be. it is amazing how quickly and easily a few sessions of being hypnotized for this will work wonders.
On another occasion I learned a powerful lesson about being a parent. When I was young I was never popular and hence I limited myself to whom I associated with and where I hung out. Sometime during my childhood I was invited to go with the "popular" group on a trip. I was excited and happy to have been invited. Well the day of the event came and went and I was not picked up. It was a mean and cruel joke but it happened. I was sad I am sure and until my daughter was in the same situation I did not remember this event. In fact Barb moved from the "middle group" to the "popular group" at age 11. I was happy for her, yet it did not seem important to her (thank goodness) or to me. Well, the "popular group" invited her skiing and I gave her permission to go.
She was so excited and then it hit me, my own memory. Well, I began to badger her everyday, asking her was she sure they would pick her up and who was driving, etc. Finally after several days of this, she looked at me and said, "Mom, this is your stuff! Not mine!" I was appalled yet I immediately knew she was correct. I was transferring all of my stuff onto her. "Out of the mouths of babes." Thank goodness for that lesson. I was grateful to receive it and understand that I had already helped her to be strong and secure and self-confident. (By the way, peace of mind is very valuable, I called the mother who was the designated driver and verified she would be picked up. (SMILE)).
I have also taught many middle and high school students how to eliminate their test concerns and improve their sports abilities. The elimination of test worries can be done in 2 to 4 sessions and the power of your child's belief to enhance their sports ability is always profound. When a coach or a teacher makes your child feel unimportant or that they are not good enough, hypnosis protects them from the negativity.
There are endless possibilities to what hypnosis can be used for and how it can teach teens how to self heal. When looking for a someone to work with for your child always get referrals. If they do not or will not give you names of previous clients that you can talk to about the healing process then find someone else to work with your child or yourself.
The powerful benefit of this healing work cannot only be measured by the success and smiles on your child's face but when we catch the negative habits and behaviors early we set them on a path of complete success for their entire life. I am a firm believer in "PROGRAMMING FOR SUCCESS." besides it's what's in your own mind that counts! Just think of helping your child while they are young and then when they are adults all of those adult issues never arise. Now is the time to act to help your children.
The use of this healing modality for children is a "marriage made in heaven." As time passes healing and hypnosis are gaining more and more public acceptance as healing modalities we are so lucky to have an outlet that we can use for our most precious possessions.our children.
Until next time.
